Medieval Festival at Trakai Peninsula Castle

Saturday, 16 June

12.00 The festival participants’ parade starts at the tourist observation ground opposite the Island Castle.
12.20 Official opening of the festival.
12.30–21.00 Presentations of ancient crafts. Educational sessions: crafts, music and military tradition. Lectures*.           
12.30–13.00 Medieval music and dance by Ambera and Saltus Gladii (Kaunas).
12.30–13.00 Guided tour through the Peninsula Castle.
13.00–13.50 Performance The Princess and the Swineherd by the Vilnius Lėlė puppet theatre.
13.00–14.00 Brain battle Interesting Middle Ages. Led by Ignas Ligionis.
13.50–15.10 Children’s competitions The Centenary of Lithuania. Clay modelling, painting.
14.00–14.40 Medieval music and a dance lesson by Lity Taler (Belarus).
14.40–15.40 Medieval life scenes, knight fights. By the Brotherhood of Knights of Olsztyn Castle (Poland).
15.40–16.20 Educational session at the camp of the Brotherhood of Knights of Olsztyn Castle.

16.20–17.00 Presentation of military units of the Teutonic Order and black powder guns of the 14th and 15th century. Knight fights with participation of military clubs KKIK, Hospitalierai, LDK Varčiai (Lithuania), St. Maurice company (Latvia), Verush (Belarus).
17.00–17.30 Medieval music and dance by Ambera and Saltus Gladii (Kaunas).
17.00–18.00 Ancient board game quirkat tournament. Museum of perception: Viking village.
17.30–17.50 Demonstrative duelling with swards and shields as well as longswords. By Kalavijo meistrystės mokykla (Vilnius).
17.50–18.30 Medieval games: knights’ competition for the guests. By the Brotherhood of Knights of Olsztyn Castle (Poland).
17.50–18.30 Knights’ competition for children by the Brotherhood of Knights of Olsztyn Castle (Poland).
18.30–19.10 Educational session at the camp of the Brotherhood of Knights of Olsztyn Castle.
18.30–19.10 Folk rock concert by a musical group Obelija (Vilnius).
19.10–19.40 Presentation of military units of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The ducal armoury restored according to historical stamps of Duke Kęstutis and Duke Vytautas dated 1379 and the stamp of Duke Jogaila dated 1382. Fighting, interactive exhibition. By military clubs Vilkatlakai, Varingis (Lithuania), Bielyj Tur (Belarus).
19.40–20.20 Medieval music and dance lesson by Lity Taler (Belarus).
20.20–21.00 Performance by the medieval illusionist and juggler Viačeslavas Mickevičius.
21.00–21.30 The evening’s great fight: the battle between the armies of the Teutonic Order and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania with participation of all military clubs.
21.30–22.30 Folk rock concert by a musical group Korys (Varėna).
22.30–23.30 Modern folklore concert by the group Kamanių šilelis (Vilnius).
23.30 Fire show by Čiutyta Plius (Trakai).
24.00 Closure of the festival.

The organiser reserves the right to make minor changes in the programme.

Entrance fee for adults – 5 Eur.
Entrance fee for school children, students and senior citizens – 2 Eur.
